Monterosso Beaches
If you want to go to the beach in the Cinque Terre, Monterosso al Mare is certainly the best place to go.
Monterosso has the largest beaches in Cinque Terre, and has the only beaches in Cinque Terre with bathing establishments. Beaches here are sandy and the beach experience is overall more comfortable. As in other Cinque Terre beaches, the water is crystal clear.
Monterosso, Cinque Terre’s largest town, also has a long seafront promenade with shops, restaurants, bars and the like.
The beaches location is convenient, as you find them near the exit of the train station, which is generally the best way to travel in Cinque Terre by land, although an exception can be made for Monterosso: unlike the other, smaller Cinque Terre towns where you normally have to park your car outside the village or town, Monterosso has a number of car parks in town and especially along the beach, with many spaces. Some of their names are Parcheggio Loreto Terrazza, Fegina Parking (with 300 spaces right in front of Fegina Beach, and an area for motorcycles), Monterosso Parking.
Several Monterosso hotels or other accommodation properties, in addition, have their own parking facilities for guests.
In Monterosso beaches there are stretches of public free beach as well as bathing establishments with beach umbrellas and loungers.
Monterosso al Mare’s two main beaches are Fegina Beach, a large sandy beach located a few meters from the station exit, and the beach called Monterosso Old Town Beach, because right behind it is Monterosso historic center: this beach is about a 5-minute walk from the station and about 600 meters from the center, hidden behind a rock wall.
On Via Fegina, the street running along Fegina Beach, there are plenty of accommodation possibilities with hotels, B&Bs and holiday apartments (see Monterosso Hotels on the Beach below).
On Fegina Beach is the Statua del Gigante.

Hotel Baia Monterosso al Mare
is a best seller in Monterosso al Mare, a 3-star beachfront hotel, in a prime location, 1 minute’s walk from the beach, as well as just 100 yards from the train station.
Hotel Baia has a terrace directly facing the sea and a few steps from it, with unsurpassed views, furnished with umbrellas, tables and chairs, where you can enjoy evening cocktails.

Monterosso
The best of both worlds: Monterosso al Mare is not as tiny as the other four villages (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia and Vernazza) of the Cinque Terre and has better beaches, but it is just as beautiful and picturesque.
From Monterosso catch a ferry or train to the other Cinque Terre towns, and to Portofino, Lerici, La Spezia, Viareggio.
And from Monterosso you can go trekking in the Cinque Terre National Park.
Discovered and appreciated by Byron and Shelley, the Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage area, and its clean, crystalline sea, blue, green and cobalt hues, has received the highest award from Touring Club Italiano and environmental group Legambiente.
